Living Funerals: A Sacred Celebration of Life Before Death

A Living Funeral is a transformative celebration—a conscious rite of passage that invites you to reflect on your life, speak your truth, and be celebrated while you are still here.

Unlike traditional funerals held after death, a Living Funeral is a sacred space where you are fully present, able to give and receive love, express gratitude, share wisdom, and make peace.

This is the chance to celebrate your life the way you want surrounded by the ones you love.

Honour your life. Share your truth.
Be witnessed in love.

For those facing terminal illness or choosing Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID), a Living Funeral offers the profound gift of leaving this world in the same spirit you have lived—with intention, joy, and love.

It is a sacred opportunity to gather with family and friends, to celebrate your life while you are still here, and to share stories, gratitude, and farewells in your own voice. Rather than waiting for words to be spoken after you are gone, a Living Funeral allows you to be fully present, to witness the love you have created, and to consciously shape your final chapter.

This is not just about dying—it is about choosing to die as you lived, with authenticity, celebration, and connection at the center.

Planning Your Living Funeral

Planning a Living Funeral can feel overwhelming, especially during tender times of transition. As your Living Funeral Concierge, I guide you through every step of the process, ensuring your ceremony reflects your unique life, values, and legacy. No two Living Funerals are the same—each is tailored to the individual, with as much or as little detail as you desire.

Living Funeral Concierge Services:

Planning & Preparation

I provide full support in creating the framework of your ceremony. From the first conversation to the final moment, I ensure your wishes and intentions are at the heart of every decision.

Personalization: Theme & Style

Whether you envision a simple gathering or an elaborate celebration, your Living Funeral can be as intimate, traditional, creative, or unconventional as you wish. Together, we design a theme and style that captures the essence of your life story.

Invitations & Guest List

Support with invitations, guest list management, and communication with loved ones, so your community feels welcomed, informed, and cared for.

Venue & Atmosphere

Guidance on venue options—whether at home, in a garden, at a retreat space, or a chosen community hall—and assistance with creating the right atmosphere through decorations, altar design, floral arrangements, and party rentals.

Catering & Gathering

Options for catering that reflect your tastes, dietary needs, and cultural traditions—from light refreshments to full meals, ensuring guests are nourished and comforted.

Words, Music & Ritual

Curation of specific readings, poems, prayers, or literature that hold meaning for you. Together we may incorporate guided meditations, personal rituals, or symbolic acts of release. Music, live or recorded, can also be woven in to evoke the emotions you want to share.

Hosting & Flow of Ceremony

I can act as your Event MC, guiding the flow of the gathering, or we can select a trusted loved one to co-facilitate. This ensures the ceremony unfolds with ease, reverence, and celebration.

Entertainment & Expressions

Your event may include live music, storytelling, dance, or personal tributes—anything that feels authentic to your journey and your way of living.

Other Options to Consider

  • Legacy projects (letters, videos, or memory books)

  • Symbolic rituals such as candle lightings, tree plantings, or water ceremonies

  • Spaces for guests to share blessings, memories, or farewells

  • Keepsakes for loved ones to take home

Your Vision
Your Way

Your Living Funeral can include, but is not limited to, these options. It is a ceremony designed to be as unique as the individual—an expression of who you are, what you value, and how you wish to be remembered. My role is to walk beside you in this process, bringing compassion, organization, and vision so that you and your loved ones can be fully present in the experience.
